Introductory Lesson Package

The three-lesson introductory package is an excellent way to make sure that piano lessons are right for you, and to see if the teacher is a good fit. The package consists of three private lessons offered at 30, 45, or 60 minute length with the option to continue for the full semester if you choose.

Students will need access to a keyboard or piano at home.

Private Lessons

Private piano lessons are offered by semester, with a 16-week (Rosetta) or 17-week (Barbara) fall and winter semester and a more flexible summer semester. Students must have access to a piano or keyboard outside of class, and are expected to spend time on practice (and play!) between classes. Parents are an important part of the piano lesson as well – for younger students it is very important that the parent is able to attend the lessons and support the student at home in establishing a routine of piano practice and play.

Students will need access to a keyboard or piano at home.

Summer lessons are scheduled “a la carte” instead of by semester.   Barbara accepts new students in the summer with the understanding that if there are new openings in her schedule during the school year, they will be at the top of the waiting list in the fall. There is a three-lesson minimum for new students, no minimum for continuing students.

Recitals, Evaluations, Workshops

Fall Recital (November).  All students and parents participate.

Winter Workshop (February) All students participate, parents do not attend. These workshops, taught by Barbara or by guest artists-teachers, are designed to bring a well-rounded experience to the lessons, allowing students to interact with each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Classes could focus on performance skills, listening skills, technique, theory, history, or a combination.

WCMS Piano Evaluations Selected students participate: An opportunity to hone musical skills and receive feedback from renowned adjudicators.

New England Piano Teacher Association recitals and Winchester Music Club recitals (throughout the year) Selected students participate: Additional performance opportunities for selected students.

Spring Recital (May) All students and parents celebrate their year of music making with a end of year performance.

Group Classes

WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY OFFERING GROUP CLASSES

These six-week introductory piano classes are designed for children to learn piano with a caregiver in a small group setting. They are ideal for the family that would like to try out piano to see if it is a good fit, and for families that want to build a good groundwork in preparation for private piano lessons. Classes are 45 minutes and meet once a week for six weeks in East Arlington, near the Thompson School.

Students will need access to a keyboard or piano at home.
